Walking Around The Neighborhood

You found the perfect home for you and your family. The interior and exterior come ready with all of the bells and whistles that you have been dreaming about. Did you check out the neighborhood yet?

If you are looking to buy a home, make sure you take a walk around the neighborhood or surrounding area. For most people, location and environment factor into the deal-breaking process on a home.

By taking a walk around your neighborhood you can spot and get a sense for:

#1 Hidden Gems

For example, perhaps you did not know there is a neighborhood playground up the street that your kids might enjoy.

#2 Environment

Maybe the other homeowners maintain the exteriors and landscapes to perfection, or maybe they do not. Either way, this is good to know. Take note of the general condition of the neighborhood.

#3 Potential Hazards

Is there a busy or loud road nearby? Are the sidewalks limited or non-existent? Do the homeowners have dogs but no fencing around their yards?

#4 Potential Neighbors

You might notice that the neighborhood is filled with young families, active couples, dog owners, or something else. This characteristic is helpful and exciting to know from the start.
