Do you plan to move in 2020? If so, here are three questions to consider as you search for your new home:
#1 What is driving your move?
Perhaps it’s a more spacious home, a shorter commute to work, or less outdoor landscaping that sparked your desire to move homes. Whatever it is, be conscious of what factors are motivating you to place your current home on the market and settle into a new space.
Remaining aware of these motivation factors at the start as well as throughout the moving process can guide your decision making as you search for a new home and place your current home on the market.
#2 What location factors should I account for?
Whether it’s proximity to work, school, extra-curricular activities, nature, shopping, or something else, determine what surroundings you most value in a home.
#3 How much home demo do I want to commit to?
While you might welcome the challenge of taking on a fixer-upper, others might desire a turn-key ready home. Whatever your particular appetite for home demolition is, bear your preferences in mind throughout the moving process.
Consider not only what demolition you are willing to do, but also what demolition you are able to do. While you might be one who enjoys the renovation and construction process, your budget, timeline, and/or the new space itself might limit your ability to embark on renovations.
